| Finding Your
Passion in Life
How do you go about finding your passion in life? Can you
really combine what you love with work and make a living?
Yes, you can. Actually when you do what you love, it is a
guarantee for success.
First decide, what excites you? What really drives your interests?
What are you really good at? Sometime individuals go to counseling
and have personality tests and career testing done. This is
actually a good idea. Some personalities are better suited
for certain occupations. Are you bubbly, assertive, outgoing?
You would do well in sales, litigation, media, or other careers
where you interact with people often. If on the other hand
you are reserved, low key or uncomfortable in large groups
then maybe research or writing would better suit you. This
is where the personality tests and career testing may be helpful.
You can also try self help as it is much less expensive than
seeing a professional. A very good book to read is “What
Color Is Your Parachute”? Sit down and think if you
could do anything you wanted to, what would it be? Before
you answer, really think about it. You need to think about
what would make you happy if you could do it every day for
he rest of your life (winning the lotto does not count). Is
it helping people, working with animals, creating something,
running a business, managing large projects, organizing? What
is your passion? Once you have answered what makes you happy,
you are on your way to finding your passion in life.
We all need help figuring things out from time to time. In
order to find the career we love, some soul searching is required.
This is where professional help or self help materials like
books, DVD’s, and CD’s come into play. They help
you get to know the real you. If you dread going to work everyday,
you are in the wrong career. Many people change careers mid-life
or even later. Sometimes, you will need to get education or
training towards a new career. This will require time and
financial management. If something is right for you, the way
to get to that goal will work itself out. That does not mean
to sit there and wait for something to happen. You have to
actively make it happen. Really look at your options and take
the time to get a plan to make it happen for you. Once you
are heading toward a career that you love, you will see a
huge change in your life.
Finding your passion in life is important. It is sad that
many of us never realize this. Wouldn’t it be to keep
working as long as you can because you want to and not because
you have to. Does the thought of waking up every morning feeling
energized and happy because you are doing what you love sound
appealing? Then go do some soul searching, take some tests
and set out on your journey of finding your passion in life.
You will be glad that you did.
