| Inspiration:
Power that Motivates
Artists are often asked where their inspiration comes from.
Is it from being an artistic person naturally? Does it just
come from their parents and dwells in their genes? Or is it
divinely inspired from some higher power? Or does it come
from a purely mundane realm that each of us encounters everyday?
So where does inspiration come from?
Inspiration can come in many forms and from many places.
It is not just artists that can be inspired. Those involved
in business are just as apt to be inspired and, in turn, inspire
others. What makes the difference between those that recognize
it and those that don’t is being open to the experience.
Perhaps successful artists and businessmen are more in tune
with the world around them and this makes them feel and understand
when inspiration happens.
We gather and glean inspiration from people around us. Just
by simply interacting with others, we can learn from them.
By using the experiences that made them who they are, we can
make ourselves better. Find a mentor, anyone that you can
learn from and life will become much improved and your skills
will soon develop as well.
Very few people accomplish much without the help of others.
J. Paul Getty, the first billionaire in America, said he would
rather have one percent effort from a hundred people than
one hundred percent of his own. In other words, get the right
set of people around you and things are easier and you can
accomplish more.
Many artists will say that just being around other artists
gives them inspiration. Many aspiring actors move to Hollywood
just to be in the mix of things and be around other actors
to not only find inspiration but also motivation. Nothing
stirs the heart more than a healthy dose of competition. When
others around you are doing, one is more apt to do themselves
and take the initiative in their own lives.
You can create this sense of accomplishment and this positive
energy will be absorbed and transferred to others and then
back, in turn, to you. Just as an old car battery sitting
around for weeks at a time loses power, so shall you, if your
energy levels remain low. Keep them up and they will stay
up.
Inspiration is not just about staying positive and having
energy. It is also about taking action. In the business world,
results matter. Physical, definable, measurable results that
can show what progress has been are what matters. The bottom
line, as they say, makes or breaks a career or a company.
So, not only can your positive words inspire others, your
actions will speak louder and others will follow in your wake.
Leading by example is the best way a person can inspire others
to do the same. When people see you living your life with
courage and honesty, whether it is in an artistic endeavor
or in the business world, they cannot help by strive to do
the same. Everyone will be inspired to improve the quality
of their own lives.
