Moving Beyond Mediocrity

Most of us live average lives. We stay in our groove and within our comfort level. So how can we get to the point where we are moving beyond mediocrity and get to the point where we are making a difference?

Are you a leader? Do you know how to develop the leaders around you? Or are you still doing everything by yourself. In order to break out of the mediocrity mold we have to not only work on developing the leader within, but we have to help those around us become the leaders they were destined to be.

John Maxwell is a great inspirational writer. He has written many books on business and personal development. If you are looking to break out from the ordinary and start moving beyond mediocrity then you need to develop a reading list of books that will help inspire you to make changes in your life.

Zig Ziglar has said that it does not matter whether you think you can or you think you cannot. Either way you are right. This is true you will act according to your thoughts. If you believe you can do something, you will take the actions necessary to get it done. Likewise if you believe you cannot do something, again you will take action to be sure that it does not get done. So it is always better to think you can, even if the task is very difficult than to be self defeating by stating “…I’ll never get this done…” Look at what the very successful people say and do. They do not say I cannot do this; instead they look at the challenge and figure out a way to accomplish the task.

Emulate successful people that you admire. What do they do that you find so appealing. Is it how they got to be so successful? Find out how they got their. I am sure that they failed many times along the way. You cannot be afraid to fail. Look at each failure as a step toward success. If it was easy, everyone would be fabulous.

Find a mentor, a life coach or both. Develop a plan to get you where you want to be. Set daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals. Stick to them and re-evaluate them when necessary. There is a motto that all black belts adhere to - “know what you want, have a plan, find a mentor, review your progress, renew your goals.” If you follow that motto, you will be well on your way to success and will break out of the mediocrity mold.

Moving beyond mediocrity is not an easy thing to accomplish. It takes hard work, perserverence and the ability to stay the course. However if you do, the rewards are many. This will not happen over night. Get your plan to improve into action and stay with it day in and day out. Everyday you will improve and you will see how amazing you truly can become.
